Caulis Polygoni Multiflori

Another name: QiTeng (Nanjing folk herb), shouwuteng (Jiangsu Zhi Yao Zhi).
[source] it is the stem or leafy stem of Polygonum multiflorum. The plant morphology is detailed in the article "Polygonum multiflorum".
[collection] the stems with leaves were collected in summer and autumn. However, most of the commodities are made of vines, which are cut after the fall of leaves in autumn to remove the twigs and residual leaves, cut into sections about 70 cm long, tied into bundles and dried in the sun.
[medicinal materials] the dried stems are slender, cylindrical, usually twisted, sometimes branched, 3-7 mm in diameter. The surface is purplish brown, rough, with twisted longitudinal wrinkles and nodes, and scattered with small red spots. The cork is thin and flake. It is hard and easy to break. The skin of the broken face is brownish red, the wood is light yellow, the xylem is radial, and the central part is white and loose pith. No gas, slightly bitter taste. It is better to be strong and uniform with purple brown appearance.
