Erect perennial herbs. Stem tetragonal, purplish red, hairy. The leaves are opposite, ovate, apex acuminate, base nearly truncated, downward extending into petiole, winged, margin serrate, tooth tip with protrusion, green above and light green below, both sides covered with fine hairs; petiole long. Inflorescence: panicle; flowers purplish red; calyx 5-lobed; corolla lip shaped, lower lip longer than upper lip, boat shaped, entire, upper lip 4-lobed, lobes reflexed; stamens 4, 2 of which are longer, slightly protruding from corolla.
Born in the earth ridge, mountain shade. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi and southwest China.

Functions and indications: relieving exterior, dispersing cold and eliminating rheumatism.
