[plant morphology] Eupatorium purpureum
Herbs perennial, up to 80 cm tall. The root is thin, slightly purplish red, with several stems. The stem is erect, the branches are scattered, and the whole plant is densely covered with white hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, oblong lanceolate or broadly linear, 2-3.5 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, apex obtuse. Raceme at the top of stem, long, bracted; sepals 5, lanceolate linear, base connate; corolla light reddish purple or blue purple, hairy outside, tube slender, ca. 7 mm long, lobes short and obtuse, ovoid, slightly open. Nutlets ovate, apex pointed, ca. 2 mm long, shortly stipitate, with verrucous protuberances of various sizes on the surface. The flowering period is from April to June.
It grows in fixed sandy land, hillside and sandy land in grassland and desert area. Distributed in Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and other places.
