Perennial herbs, 50-70 cm high. The root tuber is erect, spindle cylindrical, 5-8 cm long, and the outer skin is brownish yellow. Stem erect, sparsely retroflexed pubescent. The leaves are alternate, palmately 3-lobed, lobes 2-9-lobed, and then finely divided in different depths. Finally, the small lobes are linear lanceolate or linear, with few hairs on both sides. The leaves in the lower part of the stem have long stalks, which wither when flowering, and the leaves in the upper part of the stem are dense with short stalks. Raceme terminal, inflorescence sleeve is retroflexed pubescence; calyx 5, blue purple, petal shaped, upper sepal expanded hat shaped, about 2.5 cm high; petals a pair, with long claws, spur short; stamens many, unequal, filaments sparse pubescence; ovary 3-5, densely covered with straight and extended yellow pubescence. There are 3-5 follicles and many seeds. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from September to October.
Most of them grow in alpine grassland, hillside and under sparse forest. It is distributed in Yunnan and Sichuan.
