[plant morphology] Photinia microphylla, also known as: niujinmu, niuli, shanhongzi, bangtouguo and Bangli.
Deciduous shrub, 1-3 m high. Branchlets reddish brown, glabrous. The leaf is herbaceous, elliptic, elliptic ovate or rhomboid ovate, 4-8 cm long and 1.8-3.8 cm wide, apex acuminate or caudal apex, base broadly cuneate or suborbicular, margin glandular and acutely serrate, with hairs on the top and glabrescent on the back, 4-6 pairs of lateral veins on the bottom; petiole 1-2 mm long. Umbelliform inflorescence at the top of lateral branches, 2-9 flowers without pedicel; pedicel 1-3.5cm long, verrucous; flowers white, 1-1.5cm in diameter; calyx tube cup-shaped, lobes 5, ovate; petals 5, round. The pear fruit is oval or ovate, 5-7 mm in diameter, orange red or purple.
It grows in hills and shrubs. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, etc.
