[plant morphology] Polygala tenuifolia
Perennial herbs, 10-20 cm high. Taproot conic, stout, yellowish brown, subessential. Stem erect, purplish red, many branched, single leaf alternate, long elliptic, 1-2 cm long, 0.5-0.8 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, entire; petiole short. Small racemes terminal or axillary; flowers small, blue purple, symmetrical, one petal at the top was fimbriate. Capsule flat, obovate, ca. 5 mm in diam., apex slightly concave, base with persistent calyx, central longitudinal groove, light green; with 2 seeds. It blooms in early summer.
Born on sunny hillside or wasteland, riverside. It is distributed in Yunnan.
