Perennial herbs, up to 1 meter high. Stem erect, 4-ribbed, pubescent, much branched. Leaves simple, opposite, stipitate, broadly ovate, 6-12 cm long and 3-7 cm wide, base abruptly contracted into cuneate in the center, decurrent, apex acuminate or acute. Margin with coarse teeth. Panicle axillary or terminal, many branches; total pedicel and pedicel covered with white fine hair; calyx 5-lobed, often gray blue, with white fine hair; corolla lavender, 2-lipped, upper lip upward curved, 3-lobed, lower lip slightly downward extended, undivided; stamens 4,2-strong, anther blue; style protruding out of corolla, stigma 2-lobed. The fruit is composed of 4 nutlets, which are oval, slightly flat and with no obvious reticulation. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in shrub, hillside grassland and mixed forest. Distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and other places.
