[plant morphology] Carassius auratus
Annual herbs. Culms tufted, erect or base prostrate, 10-100 cm high, uneven in length. Leaf blade linear, 3-26 cm long, 3-5 mm wide, margin rough; leaf sheath glabrous; ligule dry membranous. Panicle narrow and long, about 1 / 2 or more than the stem; spikelet with 3-6 flowers, not more than 2 mm long, ovoid, light green to light purple, rachis broken node by node; glume ovoid, apex obtuse; lemma herbaceous, awnless, with 3 veins, palea shorter; stamen 2. Caryopsis reddish brown, obovate. The flowering period is from August to September.
It is found in fields, roadsides and riverside low wetlands. It is distributed in the South and southwest of the Yangtze River.

Functions and indications: clearing heat and cooling blood. For hemoptysis and hematemesis.
