The total length is about 13 cm. The back is brownish green, and there are six rows of light colored round eye spots from front to back, arranged in a square pattern; the ventral surface is light colored, without spots. The head is triangular, the snout length is shorter than the distance between eyes and ears, a pair of nostrils with 2 scales around, and four pairs of Chin scales. Small scales on the back. The ventral scales are smooth and arranged transversely. The limbs are well developed and each has five toes. The tail is long and its scales are arranged in a ring.
It inhabits in dry sandy land, hillside and plain near wheat field. Distributed in Northeast China and Gansu, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Qinghai and other places.

Dried snake seeds were taken orally in capsules, 0.6-0.9 g each time, once a day. Clinical observation of 488 cases, 75 cases (15.5%) were markedly effective, 263 cases (59.5%) improved, the total effective rate was 75%. In practice, it is found that the curative effect is better for patients with phlegm, but not for patients without phlegm. The results showed that 34 cases (25.6%) were markedly effective, 79 cases (60%) were improved, and the total effective rate was 85.6%.
