[plant morphology] Gentiana urophylla
Perennial herbs, 3-5 cm high. Leaf blade fan-shaped, entire, densely whorled. Flowers 1-3 terminal, blue purple, with purple black stripes; calyx tubular, often 5-lobed, lobes fan-shaped; corolla bell shaped, apex 5-lobed, lobes entire; stamens 5; ovary superior. Capsule 2-valved at maturity.
Born in alpine grassland. Distributed in Tibet and other places.

Cold in nature and bitter in taste.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat, detoxifying and stopping diarrhea. Treatment of influenza fever, sore throat, jaundice, hot diarrhea. It is used for blood and Chiba complications, brucellosis, vascular occlusive disease, toxic fever, febrile diarrhea, influenza, sore throat, jaundice.
