Perennial herbs, 13-35 cm high. Rhizome short, densely covered with coarse sieve pore like scales. The leaves are clustered; the petioles are 3-10 cm long, brown or dark brown, glossy; the first pinnate compound leaves are linear lanceolate, 10-25 cm long, 1.2-1.5 cm wide, slightly narrower at both ends; the pinnae are sparsely distributed, about 20 pairs, with very short petioles, obliquely ovate or fan-shaped elliptic, 5-6 mm long, blunt at the apex, finely toothed at the front edge, broadly cuneate at the base; the leaves are slightly herbaceous, dark green on the surface.
