The color of cheeks, neck, chest and abdomen is light, with light yellow or white slender needle hair, and the base is still brown.

Semi aquatic mammals mainly inhabit the banks of rivers, lakes and streams, and dig holes under the roots of trees, reeds and shrubs near the water. Night activities, good at swimming and diving. It feeds on fish, frogs, crabs, waterbirds and mice. They mate in spring and summer, and are pregnant for about 2 months, with 1-4 offspring per litter. It is distributed almost all over the country.

The main products are Jilin, Heilongjiang and Yunnan. In addition, it is also produced in Guangxi, Sichuan, Gansu and other places. Jilin has the largest output.
