[plant morphology] Ampelopsis grossedentata
Deciduous vine like shrub or liana, 1-3 m high. Branches gray or maroon, glabrous. Simple leaves alternate; papery; obovate to narrowly oblong, 3-6 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, apex obtuse or rounded, base cuneate, entire, both surfaces bare; petiole ca. 5 mm long. Flowers unisexual; dense raceme lateral or axillary; inflorescence 5-10 cm long, with 3-8 flowers; petiole about 2 mm long; sepals 4-lobed, ovate, bald; petals 4, white, ovate or oblong, apex obtuse or rounded, outside bald, inside with powdery protuberances; stamens 4, more than 2 times longer than petals in male flowers, anthers ovate or reniform, back without glandular spots; ovary in ovary Degenerate in male flowers, globose or ovate in female flowers, style cylindrical, stigma capitate. Small berry globose, about 5 mm in diameter, dark red when ripe, flowering in spring.
Born in the wild or near the village. It is distributed in the south of China.
