Deciduous tree, 5-20m high. Bark smooth, gray; branchlets glabrous or slightly pilose, also brown. Simple leaves alternate; thin or slightly herbaceous; ovate to elliptic ovate, 3-10 cm long, apex short acute, base rounded or broadly cuneate, margin irregularly single serrated or double serrated, glabrous above, dark green below, smooth or slightly pilose below, lateral veins 6-13 pairs; stipules lanceolate. Inflorescence corymbose, sparsely, with 6-25 flowers, receptacle pilose; sepals 5; petals 5, white; stamens numerous, prominent; ovary inferior, style usually 2. Pear fruit slightly round, reddish yellow, 7-10 mm in diameter, with long stalk. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in wet valley, mixed wood forest or stone crevice. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other places.
