Arbor, bark gray white, 5-10m high. Leaves papery, alternate, broad ovate, base heart-shaped, 10-20 cm long and 8-10 cm wide; petioles purplish red. Racemes axillary, green. The fruit is oblate and purple black. The branches, leaves and inflorescence have small spines. It is toxic, and its bristles can cause swelling and pain when they touch the skin.

Born in bamboo forest edge or mountain forest. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
