[plant morphology] Lithospermum chinense
Perennial climbing herbs, up to 4 m long. In the lower part of the main stem, the leaves are sparse, lanceolate, long and acuminate, membranous and grayish white. The upward leaves are smaller, green, thick leathery, and have an early falling membranous tail. The vegetative branches are mostly round and branched, and the terminal branchlets are slender, drooping, flat, with three rows of leaves. The two rows are larger, one side of the adnexal branchlets is triangular, and the other row is smaller, attached to the center of the other side of the branchlets, spiny. The spore branch is extracted from the bud with scaly leaves on the lower side of the vegetative branch base, with multiple bifurcated branches and one sporangium spike at the top of each terminal branch. Sporangium panicle cylindrical, more or less drooping; sporophyll broad oval triangle; sporangium nearly round. The spores mature in September.
It grows on the edge of forest and shrubs. It is distributed in South China, Southwest China, Hubei, Hunan, Fujian and Taiwan.
