Deciduous shrub or small tree, 1-6m high. It has silky hairs when young. Leaves alternate, obovate elliptic or ovate, 412 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly wedge-shaped, entire, papery, pubescent below, shedding when old, lateral veins 5-8; petiole 5-12 mm long. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; umbels axillary, pedicels yellowish brown pilose; perianth segments 6, elliptic, yellow; male flowers with stamens 9, anthers inward lobed. The fruit is spherical, dark red, about 7 mm in diameter, and the peduncle is 1.5-2 cm long. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in the edge of hillside forest or roadside shrub. Distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
