[collection] from April to may, the fruits will be harvested when they are ripe, soaked in warm water and dried in the sun.
[herbal medicine] the dried fruit is long ovate or oval, 1.5-2 cm long, 7-9 mm in diameter; the surface is brown or purple brown, with raised irregular network wrinkles; the base has fruit stalk mark, sometimes with fine fruit stalk and dish like persistent calyx. The epicarp is thin and easy to fall off, showing yellowish brown nucleus with irregular longitudinal grooves on the surface; the inner fruit belt is tough and easy to peel, usually containing one seed (the other ovule is generally undeveloped, occasionally containing two seeds). The seeds are long ovate, 1.2-1.5 cm long, about 5 mm in diameter, grayish brown, with slightly concave Brown veins, with a long ovate membranous septum on the ventral surface; the endosperm is hard and thick, yellowish white, rich in oil, the embryo is slender and slightly fragrant. The seeds taste bitter. It is better to be dry, plump, orange and not moldy.
