Carya cathayensis
Deciduous, arbor, up to 30 m high, solid pith. Leaflets 5-7, opposite, lanceolate or obovate lanceolate, 10-18 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margin serrate, with orange yellow scalelike trichomes below; petioles very short or few, flowers unisexual, monoecious, male catkins 3 in a bunch, axillary, 10-15 cm long; flowers with 1 bract and 2 bracts The female inflorescence is spicate, erect, inflorescence axis densely glandular, with 2-5 flowers; the female inflorescence has 4-lobed perianth, and ovary is attached.
