Shrubs or small trees, usually 6 m high, with enlarged spindle shaped roots. Branchlets weak. Leaves alternate, papery, elliptic to oblong lanceolate, 5-10 cm long and 1.5-4 cm wide, apex caudate acuminate, base acute, dark green above, only veins appressed pubescence, golden yellow or rust color appressed pubescence, glossy below, 3 veins from base; petiole glabrous, 5-10 mm long. Dioecious; female inflorescence solitary in leaf axils, sessile or shortly pedicled; perianth segments 6, oblong to narrowly oblong, 2 mm long, pilose; fertile stamens 9, anthers 2-locular, all intropetal lobed. Fruit oval, black, glossy, 8-10 mm long. The flowering period is from February to March. The fruit period is from July to August.
It grows in mixed forest and sparse forest in valley. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
