[plant morphology] Echinacea denticulata
Subshrub, 1-2m high. Young branches tetragonal, densely covered with grayish yellow stellate hairs. The leaves are oblong, 10-20 cm long and 5-10 cm wide, with serrate margins; the petioles and back of the leaves are densely covered with grayish yellow stellate hairs. Inflorescence of sparsely spicate inflorescence in pairs, pedicel longer than petiole, leaflike bracteoles covered with stellate hairs; flower red; calyx 10 veined, 5-cleft; corolla tube slender, throat enlarged, limb 2-lipped, upper lip helmet shaped; lower lip 3-cleft; stamen 4-cleft; ovary 4-cleft. Nuts.
Born in bamboo forest or bush. It is distributed in Yunnan.

Bitter and cool.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat and toxin, relieving cough and resolving phlegm, eliminating inflammation and diuresis. Treatment of pneumonia, trachea, bronchitis, cough, phlegm, urinary tract infection, cystitis, nephritis, edema, urinary calculi.
