Hibiscus syriacus

[synonym] chaotianzi (yinpianxinshen) and chuanjinzi (Pharmacology).
[source] it is the fruit of Hibiscus syriacus. Please refer to "Hibiscus skin" for plant morphology.
[collection] from September to October, the fruit was picked and dried when it was yellow green.
[medicinal materials] the dried capsule is ovoid or rectangular in shape, about 2 cm long and 1.6 cm in diameter. The apex is short and pointed. Some of them have split into 5 petals, with yellowish green and villous outside. There are persistent calyx 5-lobed at the base, with stellate hairs outside. There are 6-7 narrow linear bracts under the calyx, which are arranged in one round or partially fallen off. There are residual flower stalks. Capsule 5-locular. The seed is triangular ovate or slightly kidney shaped and flat, grayish brown, lusterless, with a long hilum at the lower end, surrounded by many milky white to grayish yellow villi, about 3 mm long. It is better to be dry, yellow, green pedicel and no seeds scattered in the fruit.
Produced in Jiangsu, Guangxi and other places.
