[plant morphology] Pinellia ternata, also known as jujube bark tree, camellia, Elaeagnus multiflora.
Deciduous shrub, up to 3 meters high. Branches spreading, without needling, branchlets reddish brown, densely scaly. Leaf membranous, elliptic or ovate to ovate oblong, 2.5-6 turns long, 2-4 cm wide, apex short to acute, entire, base broadly cuneate or rounded, with stellate hairs and silver scales on the top, then gradually falling off, silver white below, scattered brown scales; petiole about 5-7 mm long. Flowers axillary 1-2, silvery white, perianth tube tubular, upper 4-lobed, inner sparsely pilose; stamen 4; pistil 1; style glabrous. The fruit is oblong, densely covered with rust scales, red at maturity, 12-14 mm long. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is June.
It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Hebei, Henan and Shandong.
