Perennial creeping herbs. Rhizome slightly thick fat, diameter 4-8 mm. Stems slender, twining or creeping. The leaf blade is halberd shaped or 3-lobed, 3.5-8 cm long and 1-3 cm wide, with the largest middle lobe and shorter lateral lobes, and then 2-lobed, apex pointed, entire or undulate, base heart-shaped. Flowers axillary, solitary, pedicel slightly longer than petiole; bracts 2, ovoid, larger, surrounding calyx, persistent; calyx lobes oblong, smooth; corolla funnel-shaped, 2-4 cm long, reddish white; stamens 5, concealed; pistil 1, ovary 1, style 1, stigma 2-lobed. Capsule ovoid, slightly pointed, smooth, with 4 black seeds. The flowering period is from May to August. The fruit period is from August to October.
It grows in cultivated land, wasteland, roadside, stream, lake and other tidal wetlands. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
