Weak herbaceous liana, 1-2m long, tuberous root tuberous. Stems pilose or smooth, with unbranched tendrils. Leaves triangular ovate, 3-8 cm long, apex short pointed or acuminate, base halberd shaped, margin nearly entire or irregularly obtuse serrate or slightly divided, membranous, both sides rough, with small white spots; petiole shorter than auricle. The flowers are unisexual, monoecious, white; the male flowers are solitary or several, gathered in the leaf axils, with slender stalks, short calyx tubes, 5 calyx teeth, small, 5-lobed corolla, lobes triangular ovate, stamens 3, anthers separated; the female flowers are solitary, with the male flowers from the leaf axils, long stalks, calyx and corolla with the male flowers, ovary rectangular, style 3. The fruit is ovate or elliptic, 1.2-2 cm long, and the seed is flat with strong margin. The flowering period is from July to August. The fruiting period is September.
It is often entangled on the bush of wasteland. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Anhui, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
