Shrubs deciduous up to 2.5 m high. Young branches densely white pubescent. The apical leaflets are oblong or elliptic, 3-6.5 cm long and 1.5-4 cm wide, with rounded or slightly concave apex, short tip, round base, glabrous above, reticulate veins obvious, yellowish pilose below; lateral leaflets are smaller, stipules lanceolate. Inflorescence racemose or panicle, terminal axillary; flowers butterfly shaped, purple; calyx broadly campanulate, calyx teeth 4, puberulent; stamens 10, 2-bodied. Pods obliquely elliptic, membranous, ca. 1 cm long, reticulate. The flowering period is from April to August. The fruiting period is September.
It grows in hillside, gully, grass slope, forest edge or sparse forest. Distributed in Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Jiangsu, Hubei, Sichuan and other places.
