Perennial herbs. The fibrous roots are thick and thick. The rhizome is prostrate, long, with dense links and covered with fibrous residual leaf bases. Stem flat, thin and weak. The basal leaves are broad linear, 10-45 cm long, 6 mm wide, apex short pointed, entire, with many longitudinal veins; the cauline leaves are 2-4, narrowly lanceolate, shorter than the basal leaves, and the base embraces the stem. The stem of the flower is flat; the apex of the flower is in the foyan bract composed of three long and narrow lanceolate bracts; there are two flowers, light blue; the petiole is about as long as the ovary; the perianth tube is short, 6-lobed; the outer lobes are spoon shaped, oblong, blunt. Inner lobes ca. 2-fold shorter, apex concave; stamens 3; ovary inferior, 3-locular, style ligulate, 3-branched, petaloid. Capsule leathery, oblong and pointed at both ends, with 6 longitudinal ridges and dorsal lobes. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from July to September.
Born in the mountains and wetlands. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guangdong and other places.
