[plant morphology] Eurya Eurya, also known as diaojiazi tree.

Evergreen shrubs or small trees, up to 1-3 m high. Leaves alternate, elliptic or campanulate, 4-7 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide, apex obtuse or acute, base cuneate, margin serrate or serrulate; young leaves pilose, both sides smooth glabrous; petiole short. Flowers small, 4-6 mm in diameter, unisexual, dioecious, 1-2 axillary, pedicels short and pendulous; sepals 5, ovoid; petals 5, purple white; stamens 12-15 in male; styles 1.5 mm in female, 3-lobed. The berry is spherical, 3-4 mm in diameter, and turns from red to purple black when ripe. It blooms in early spring.

It's in the shade of the hillside. It is distributed in East China, South China and southwest China.
