[plant morphology] Bambusa compressa
Perennial evergreen herbs, 50-70 cm high. Rhizome long, transverse, like bamboo whip, node on the majority of fibrous roots, yellow brown. Stem cylindrical, distinctly segmented, miliaceous, smooth. Leaves alternate; flat, broadly sword shaped, 20-40 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base folded into amplexicaul, entire, glabrous on both sides, with many parallel veins. The flowers are large, light blue purple, yellow striped, 4-6 cm in diameter. Capsule ovoid, ca. 2 cm long, trigonous. 3-valved at maturity, with black seeds and many seeds.
It is also cultivated in the valley, forest edge and wet land. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
