[plant morphology] ① Eucommia ulmoides vine, also known as jieyiteng, jiuniuteng, Baipi Jiaoteng, xiaobaipi Teng and pseudoeucommia ulmoides.
Climbing vines, up to tens of meters. Branch diameter can reach 20 cm above, skin is white; branchlet is covered with tiny hair when tender. Leaves opposite, elliptic or oblong, 5-11 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, base acute or round, apex narrowly acuminate, entire, lateral veins 5-6 pairs; petiole 1-1.5 cm long. Cymes racemose, dense, 9 cm long, pilose: flowers small, red; calyx 5-lobed, basal glands few or absent; corolla curved inward before opening, 2 mm long; stamens 5, filaments very short, 0.5 mm long, glued to each other, surrounding stigma; disk rounded, ovary composed of 2 free carpels, apex villous. Follicles bisexual, angular, 5-8 cm long. The seed is 2 cm long with white filiform hairs on the top. The flowering period is from March to May. The fruiting period is from November to January of the next year.
It grows in hilly woodland, mountain area, piedmont, valley and open forest by stream. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.

Climbing vines, more than 10 meters long. Branches cylindric, stout, lenticel, young branches covered with light rusty pubescence. Leaves opposite, ovate elliptic, 2.5-7.5 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm wide, base suborbicular, apex obtuse or short acuminate, entire, slightly involute, both sides covered with light rust colored pubescence, lateral veins up to 10 on each side. Cymes subterminal, rarely axillary, corymbose, 4-6 cm long; flowers very small, calyx nearly campanulate, 5-lobed, calyx scales 5; corolla yellow, outer hairy, inner surface glabrous except base; stamens 5, filaments very short, anthers arrowhead shaped; disk shallow 5-lobed; ovary composed of 2 separate carpels, with long sparse hairs. The fruit is twin, or only one due to sterility, 6-7 cm long. Seeds linear oblong, 1-1.5 cm long, dark yellow, hairy; seed hairs white, filiform. The flowering period is from March to May. The fruit period is from October to November.
It grows under the sparse forest in the valley or on the edge of the forest, and in the Bush beside the mountain stream. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
