Shujin grass

[source] it is the rhizome of Dryopteris denticulata, a pteridiaceae plant.
[plant morphology] Dryopteris dentata
The height is 30-70 cm. Rhizome obliquely ascending or short transverse, sparsely covered with brown scales, apex of scales curved. The leaf blade is linear oblanceolate to oblong oblong lanceolate, 35-50 cm long, 8-15 cm wide, apex long acuminate; 12-18 pairs of pinnae, linear, long acuminate, caudate, 7-11 cm long, 1-1.8 cm wide, base long acuminate The lower 4-5 pairs of pinnae are slightly far apart, pinnatifid, lobes rounded, leaves hairy on both sides, veins pinnate. The sporangia are round, 4-6 pairs on each lobe, inserted in the middle of venules. The cysts are round, kidney shaped, gray and hairy.
Born in valley, wetland and ditch. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Fujian and Taiwan.

Functions and indications: Soothing tendons, activating collaterals and dispersing cold. It is used to treat rheumatism, muscle pain, numbness of fingers, traumatic injury, rash and swelling.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.3-1 Liang; or stewed meat.
