[plant morphology] Polygala fallax
Deciduous shrub, 1-3 meters high, with sweet taste. The root is thick, light yellow and fleshy. The bark is gray white. Leaves alternate; membranous: lanceolate or obovate lanceolate, 8-20 cm long, 3-7 cm wide, apex acuminate, base attenuate or suborbicular, entire; shortly stipitate. Raceme terminal, drooping; yellow flowers, symmetrical; sepals 5, inner 2 large petal shaped; petals 3, lower connate, central one larger, saccate, near the top with fimbriate appendages; stamens 8, lower part of filaments connate; ovary superior, 2-locular. Capsule broad, reniform, flat. Seeds hairy, one end flat, one end protuberant. It blooms in summer.
It grows under the sparse forest on the hillside or in the valley forest. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi and other places.
