[plant morphology] 1. Huazhou pomelo, also known as Huazhou Xianju (Miscellaneous records of Lingnan).
Small evergreen trees, about 3-3.5 m high. The branches are stout and oblique, and the young branches are densely pilose with tiny needles. The leaves are oblong, 8-13 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, with rounded or slightly concave apex, blunt base, shallow wavy margin, and pilose on both main veins. The leaves are thick and soft. The flowers are very fragrant, solitary or axillary inflorescence; calyx 4-lobed; petals white, oblong; stamens 20-25; ovary round, style columnar, stigma very large. The fruit is round or slightly flat, generally 10-15 cm high and 11-13 cm wide. It is lemon yellow, with large and obvious oil chamber. The young fruit is densely covered with white villi. The top of the fruit is round and obtuse, the top is concave, and the pedicel is slightly ribbed around. The peel is not easy to peel, and the thickness is about 2 cm. The pulp sac is 16 petals, the central column is full, the flesh is light yellow, and the juice cells grow like spindles, and the taste is sour. Seeds more than 80, oblate, chalazal light purple. The flowering period is March. The fruit period is from August to September.
It is cultivated in Guangdong (Huaxian) and Guangxi (Yulin).
The flower (pomelo flower) and immature fruit (marmalade) of this plant are also used for medicine.

[medicinal materials] the dried exocarp is in the shape of folded heptagonal, hexagonal or pentagonal star, with a diameter of 13-20 cm and a thickness of 2-3 mm. The outer skin of Huazhou pomelo is yellow or yellowish green, densely covered with hairy, wrinkles and small pits, which are often made into seven corners, commonly known as "yellow seven claws" and "green seven claws"; the outer skin of pomelo is yellowish brown, light but without hairy, which also has wrinkles and small pits, which are mostly pentagonal, commonly known as "big five claws"; those processed into hexagons are called "six claws red", and those with single willow leaf shape are commonly known as "sharp red", or "willow leaf orange red". The inner surface is mostly yellowish white with veins. It is brittle and easy to break, with uneven section. There is a row of irregular oil spots on the outside and yellow white on the inside. It is slightly fragrant and bitter. Thick skin, hairy, strong smell is preferred.
