[animal morphology] Jiuxiang insect
They are oval in shape, 1.7-2.2 cm in length and 1-1.2 cm in width. The body is generally purplish black with copper luster. The head, front chest, back plate and scutellum are relatively black. The head is small, slightly triangular; compound eyes are prominent, oval, located near the base on both sides; monocular 1 pair, orange; beak is short, antennae 6, the first is thick, cylindrical, the other 4 are slender and flat, the second is longer than the third. The anterior chest and back plate are narrow in front and wide in back, the front edge is concave, the back edge is slightly arched out, the middle part is horizontal and straight, and the side angle is obvious; the surface is densely covered with fine engraving points and mixed with black wrinkles, and there is a large "eyebrow shaped area" on both sides of the front, with dark color, only with engraving points in the middle. The scutellum is large. There are 2 pairs of wings, the front wing is half Coleoptera, brownish red, and the terminal wing is 1.3 membranous, with dense longitudinal veins. There are 3 pairs of feet, the longest hind foot and 3 tarsals. The ventral surface is densely covered with fine engraving and wrinkles, and there are two odor holes near the front edge of the back chest web, which are located on the anterolateral side of the hind foot, and can emit odor. The 9th segment of the male is the reproductive segment, with arc-shaped terminal margin and convex central arch.
The adult overwinters and hides between the stone gaps. Nymphs without wings, adults with wings can fly, can eat melon plants. It is distributed in Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, etc.
