[plant morphology] hongzizhu, also known as dujieshu, xiaohongmizuo, hongyezizhu, and xianmiyouzhu.
Shrubs erect, up to 3 m tall, all pubescent and stellate. Single leaf opposite, petiolate, obovate or oblong, 10-14 cm long, 38-45 mm wide, apex acute to acute tail, margin triangular serrate, base heart-shaped, upper green, pilose, lower light green, lateral veins 6-12 pairs, pubescent, dense. Cyme, about 2-3 cm in diameter; bracts small, ovoid; calyx cup-shaped, calyx teeth inconspicuous, glandular; corolla purplish red, about 3 mm long, 4-lobed, ovoid, outside hairy, glandular; stamen 4, filament 2 times longer than corolla; pistil 1, style slightly longer than stamen, ovary superior, bald; drupe globose, about 2 mm in diameter, red; flowering from April to May. The fruit period is from November to December.
It grows on hillside, stream side, sparse forest and grass. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places.
