[plant morphology] Japanese sword
Herbs perennial, tufted with fine hairs. Stems twining or creeping, base branched. Leaves alternate, oblong or lanceolate, long ovate, 4-8 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, apex obtuse, apical, base hastate, lower leaves entire, upper leaves often 3-lobed, middle lobes oblong or lanceolate, bilateral lobes short, triangular, spreading, petiole shorter than leaves. Flowers solitary in leaf axils, pedicel 3-10 cm long; calyx 5, with 2 large bracts outside calyx; corolla funnel-shaped, pink, 5-lobed; stamen 5, concealed; pistil 1. Capsule globose, smooth. Seeds ovoid, glabrous.
Most of them live in fields, ridges, ditches and hillside wasteland. Distributed in Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu and other places.

The chemical constituents are kaempferol-3-glucoside and kaempferol-3-glucoside. It has the function of purgation and diuresis.
