[plant morphology] Quercus liaotungensis, also known as chaishu, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Cyclobalanopsis glauca.
Deciduous trees, 5-10 cm high. Bark dark brown; young branches glabrous, grayish green. Single leaf alternate, obovate to elliptic obovate, 5-17 cm long, 2.5-10 cm wide, apex obtuse, base auricular or round, margin with 5-7 pairs of wavy teeth, hairy along veins when young, glabrous when old, 5-7 pairs of lateral veins; petiole 2-4 mm long. Flowers unisexual, monoecious; male flowers in soft yellow inflorescence, born in leaf axils; female flowers usually 3 gather to form single leaf axils, cupule shallow Huai shaped, surrounding nut about 1 / 3, diameter 1.2-1.5 cm, height about 8 mm; bracts small, ovate, flat: nut ovate to long ovate, diameter 1-1.3 cm, length 1.7-1.9 cm, glabrous; hilum slightly protruding.
Born in hillside forest. Distributed in Ningxia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other places.
