Rattan woody, up to 30 m long, young branches and inflorescences pubescent. Stem cylindrical, with small yellowish white lenticels. Leaves leathery, opposite, elliptic oblong to ovate lanceolate, 7-15 cm long and 3-7.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate or rounded, glossy above. Inflorescence: inflorescence 3-5-lobed, glandular margin 3-5-lobed, staminate; inflorescence 1-10-lobed, glandular margin 3-5-lobed; inflorescence 1-lobed, glandular margin 3-5-lobed; inflorescence 1-lobed. The fruit has 3 wings, the middle wing is longer, oblong or suborbicular. It blooms in early spring.
Wild or cultivated in forests, valleys and roadside shrubs. It is distributed from southwest to southeast of China.
