[plant morphology] water Redwood, also known as Ligustrum lucidum, dalutong, ash wrapped wood, sleeping fruit, pink fruit leaf and crispy bone of sheep.

Evergreen shrubs or small trees, up to 3 m tall, branchlets with round lenticels. Leaves opposite; elliptic to oblong, 5-15 cm long, 2-7 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base broadly cuneate, entire or sparsely toothed above base, covered with gray white wax above, light colored below, with tufted hairs in vein axils; petiole 2.5 cm long. Cymes 5-7, arranged into terminal corymbs, up to 12 cm in diameter; corolla white, tubular bell shaped, apex 5-lobed, stamens 5, anthers purplish, prominent; ovary inferior. Drupe ovoid, 4-5 mm long, purple black or gray black. The flowering period is from March to August. The fruit period is from June to November.

It grows in the sparse forest on the sunny slope. Distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei and other places.
