Tortoiseshell

The body length can reach 1.6 meters. There are hard scales on the back and abdomen. There are 2 pairs of anterior zygomatic scales on the head. The nostril is close to the snout. Its upper part is crooked, its beak is parrot like, and its jaw margin is serrate. The scales on the back are arranged in the form of shingles in the early stage and become flat with age. The surface is glossy with brown and light yellow patterns. In the center, there are 5 spines, 4 pairs of rib scales on both sides, and 25 marginal scales with serrated edges. The abdomen consists of 13 scales, which are yellow and black. The limbs were flat and leafy. The forelimb is larger with 2 claws, and the hind limb has only 1 claw. The outer part of the short tail is usually not small.

It lives in warm and tropical seas. It feeds on fish, shrimps and crabs, molluscs and seaweed. They are distributed in Fujian, Taiwan, Hainan and Paracel Islands.
