Perennial plants, up to 50 cm high. Stem often four Ling, pilose, base often creeping. Leaves opposite, elliptic or obovate rhombic, 2-5 cm long, apex obtuse or acute, base cuneate, both sides covered with pubescence. Inflorescence terminal or axillary; inflorescence sparsely, involucre 1, inserted at the base of the inflorescence, ovate; flowers small, without pedicel; bracteoles 2, broad ovate; sepals 5, long ovate, 2-2.5 mm long, veined 3, outside densely villous; stamens 5, base connate; sterile stamens short ligulate, apex obtuse or two lobed; calyx and bracts of sterile flowers metamorphosed into hook shaped awns. Utricle not dehiscent. The flowering period is from September to November.
