Zheng Tai (151-191) was born in Kaifeng, Xingyang, Henan Province. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there were officials.

At the end of the reign of Emperor Ling of the Han Dynasty, Zheng Tai knew that the world would be in chaos, so he secretly made friends with heroes. His family was rich, and 400 hectares of land was often not enough for food, but he was famous in Shandong.

Later, Zheng Tai was elected Xiaolian, appointed by Sanfu and recruited by bus, but Zheng Tai should not. In 189, Emperor Ling died. Liu Bian, the young emperor of Han Dynasty, succeeded him. He Jin, the great general of Han Dynasty, appointed Zheng Tai as the Minister of Shang Shu and moved to be the censor. At the same time, he Jin conspired to get rid of the eunuch, and planned to call Dong Zhuo, the herdsman of Liangzhou, to Beijing to help. Therefore, Zheng Tai said to He Jin, "Dong Zhuo is cruel and has boundless ambition. If you rely on him to do great political affairs, you will let his ferocity and ambition go, and you will certainly harm the imperial court. You are the emperor's relative and have the power to assist the government. You should insist on your own decision and punish the guilty. It is not suitable to use Dong Zhuo as an aid. What's more, things will change after a long time. Dou Wu's case is just a lesson from the past. " But he Jin didn't accept Zheng Tai's advice and still invited Dong Zhuo to Beijing, so Zheng Tai left. Later, he also said to Xun you, "it's not easy to help him."

In the same year, the eunuch knew he Jin's plot, so he Jin was killed. Later, Dong Zhuo entered the capital and made trouble. He took charge of the government and abolished the emperor. Wu Qiong, the captain of Cheng men School of Zheng Taihe, Shi He Jia, the chief of Dong Zhuo, and Zhou Zhen, the Secretary of Cheng men, were appointed by Dong Zhuo to select the world famous officials. Later, Zheng Tai, Wu Qiong, he Jia and others advised Dong Zhuo to let Yuan Shao serve as the governor of Bohai Sea to win him over, but in fact, they wanted to support Yuan Shao as the source of anti Dong forces.

In the first month of the first year of Chuping (190), Yuan Shao, as the leader of the Allied forces in Guandong, set out to fight against Dong Zhuo. Dong Zhuo met with the ministers and planned to lead the troops against the crusading forces. At that time, all the officials did not dare to oppose it, but Zheng Tai worried that Dong Zhuo's army was too many and tough to control, so he spoke against sending troops. Dong Zhuo was not happy. Zheng Tai then explained that the reason for opposing sending troops was that there was no need for the generals in Guandong to deal with it, and pointed out ten points, including that the people had been at ease for a long time and had no intention to fight. Dong Zhuo was familiar with military affairs and was famous at that time, which was enough to make people awe and admire the generals in Guandong All of them are not military talents. They are not Dong Zhuo's opponents at all. They persuade Dong Zhuo not to join the army. Dong Zhuo obeyed, so he made Zheng Tai a general and led the troops against the Crusaders. Later, someone told Dong Zhuo that Zheng Tai was superior in intelligence. In fact, he secretly conspired with the enemy. To give him troops was to give him to his accomplices. Dong Zhuo took back Zheng Tai's military power and paid homage to Yilang instead.

Later, Dong Zhuo saw that there were a lot of troops in the Kanto expedition, so he decided to move the capital to Chang'an in March. At that time, the world was in chaos, and there was famine. Many literati could not live. Because Zheng Tai had money, he held a party every day, which helped many people. Later, Zheng Tai, Xun you, he Gu and others conspired to assassinate Dong Zhuo, but the secret leaked out. Zheng Tai fled from Wuguan to Chang'an and went to the later general Yuan Shu. Yuan Shu claimed that Zheng Tai was the governor of Yangzhou. Zheng Tai died on his way to office at the age of 41.

Anecdotes and allusions

According to the biography of Zheng Tai in the book of the later Han Dynasty, Zheng Tai conspired with he you and Xun you to assassinate Dong Zhuo after Dong Zhuo moved his capital to Chang'an. However, the secret leaked out and Xun you and he you were arrested. Zheng Tai defected to Yuan Shu, who said that Zheng Tai was appointed governor of Yangzhou, but died on the way. This biography does not account for the year;

In the biography of Zheng Hun in the annals of the Three Kingdoms, Zheng Tai conspired with Xun you, while Pei Songzhi quoted Zhang Li's Han Ji as saying that Zheng Tai conspired with Wang Yun. According to the biography of he Shu in the later Han Dynasty, he Shu, Wang Yun, Xun Shuang and others tried to punish Dong Zhuo. However, Xun Shuang died at that time, and he Shu was arrested by Dong Zhuo for something (the biography did not explain why), and died of anxiety and indignation.

In the biography of Xun you in the annals of the Three Kingdoms, it is mentioned that Xun you conspired with Wu Qiong, he Jia, Zhong Ji and Zheng Tai, but he was arrested because of the incident, and he was afraid of suicide. Zheng Taizheng was saved from death when Dong Zhuo died. Pei Songzhi quoted Wei Shu as saying that Xun you sent people to lobby Dong Zhuo and Zheng Tai to avoid death, which is different from what Chen Shou wrote.

According to Xiandi Ji of the later Han Dynasty, Xun Shuang died in May of the first year of Chuping (190); Wu Qiong was killed by Dong Zhuo because of the troops of the Northeast expeditionary army before he moved his capital to Chang'an in February. He jianruo should also have died in that year from this biography, that is, the conspiracy seems to have happened in 190, not long after Dong Zhuo moved his capital to Chang'an. When Dong Zhuo died in the third year of Chuping (1922), Xun you could not have been jailed for two years, and "Huizhuo would have been exempted from death". Wu Qiong's participation also contradicted Zheng Tai's biography.
