Xiang Shouzhi
Xiang Shouzhi (November 28, 1917 - September 2, 2017), a native of Xuanhan, Sichuan Province, joined the Red Army of workers and peasants in 1934, the Communist Youth League of China in 1935, the Communist Party of China in 1936, was awarded the rank of major general in 1955 and general in 1988, and was once commander of Nanjing Military Region.
On September 2, 2017, Xiang Shouzhi died in Nanjing at the age of 100.

Main achievements
Shentouling ambush Japanese Army
On March 16, 1938, Xiang Shouzhi led the machine gun company of No.2 battalion of 771 regiment of 386 brigade to take part in the ambush at shentouling. He directed the machine gun company's six heavy machine guns to shoot the Japanese troops who reinforced Licheng. More than 1500 Japanese soldiers were killed, wounded and captured, and more than 500 long and short guns and 600 mules and horses were seized.
Xiangtangpu ambush Japanese Army
On March 31, 1938, Xiang Shouzhi led his troops to take part in the ambush at xiangtangpu. He directed the heavy machine guns of the machine gun company to sweep the Japanese convoy fiercely, and protected the commanders and fighters of the brother troops to attack the Japanese convoy. He annihilated more than 400 Japanese troops and totally paid 180 Japanese vehicles.

Honors
He was awarded the rank of major general in 1955 and the rank of general in 1988. He was awarded the three-level 81 medal, the two-level independent freedom medal, the two-level Liberation Medal and the one-level Red Star meritorious service medal.
