Ni Tian
Ni Tian (1855-1919), originally known as Baotian, was born in Jiangdu, Jiangsu Province and overseas Chinese in Shanghai. He is good at drawing horses and animals. He can do it with ease and does not need to write skillfully. When Guangxu went to Shanghai, he loved Ren Yi's paintings, that is, he used Ren FA. Ink stone, color flowers, plump and vigorous, fresh and rich wild mood. In 1910, he was the director of the general affairs association of Shanghai calligraphy and Painting Research Association, and his paintings were excellent at sea for a time. He also works in landscape, but it's rare. He sold paintings in Shanghai for 30 years and died 65 years. The handed down works include "portrait of Wu Changshuo at the age of 66", which is now in Shanghai Museum.
artistic characteristics
At the beginning of his career, he learned Chinese rock art from Wang Su. His figures, ladies and ancient Buddha statues were elegant, especially good at painting horses. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, he went to Shanghai and loved Renyi painting, so he abandoned his business and took part in Renfa. He is one of the important successors of Ren school. It is said that "today's School of Ren Yi is different from Ni Tian school". Ink and wash stone, color flowers, plump and vigorous, good at time, and landscape. He lived in Shanghai for 30 years. Today's scholars are all of Nitian's other schools. He died 65 years ago. He is good at flowers, landscapes, figures, especially horses and animals. Be able to create without writing. Ni Shi is an important painter of the maritime painting school. Therefore, the characteristics of the maritime painting school, which is both refined and popular, are also reflected in his works, such as figures, ladies, portraits, flowers and birds, and landscapes. As a teacher of Wang Suzhi, he got the Chinese rock technique, so he used a loose and elegant brush with lively lines and elegant colors. The figures and facial expressions are as strange and naive as Ren Bonian's, full of local flavor. His works are included in the collection of famous Chinese paintings in the past 100 years and the collection of paintings and calligraphy in the past dynasties.

The lines are mellow and vigorous, the colors are gorgeous, and the brushwork is neat and meticulous. The author learned from Ren Bonian recently, followed Chen Hongshou far, and gained the charm of Meticulous Brushwork, but he did not stick to the rules. The shape of the characters is slightly exaggerated, but the proportion is roughly accurate. The face and eyes are natural and vivid. It gives the characters different personality characteristics and shows the different mental outlook of the characters, either rigid or soft, or exposed or introverted.
White head of Wisteria

In the painting, wisteria seems to flutter in the wind, flowers and leaves are moving, and rattan flowers are brilliant. The painter imitates Ren Yi and is good at using water and powder. The light and color of the picture are floating, and the elegance and beauty of the flowers and leaves are all produced by the end of the pen. The anemone takes a static posture, and forms a dynamic and static effect with the movement of flowers and leaves. The writing method is simple, and the light color of water and ink forms different textures of hairs and flying feathers.
Lady Zhong Kui
Vertical axis, paper, color, size unknown. Xu Beihong Memorial Collection. This picture shows Zhong Kui and his younger sister sitting against a stone, drinking tea, as if chatting with each other. A little ghost nearby carries the newly picked wild fruit. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. The brothers and sisters in the world of human and ghost both seem to be mortal figures. With vase Flowers and censers, they add some secularization. The author uses different strokes to reflect different characters. Zhong Kui uses big color block to render, thick pen and dry ink with a little hook. His painting method is rough and powerful, which reflects the power of Kong Wu. His younger sister uses light and thin pen, rendering is more detailed, and the tone is elegant, which shows his gentle and quiet state. One is rigid, one is soft, one is relaxed, the composition is oblique and straight, and the contrast is harmonious and unified, which makes the picture produce a unique artistic effect.
