Jian Dashi

Jian Dashi (1870-1900) was born in Tanshui, Taiwan, formerly known as Jian Zhonghao. After the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, Taiwan was ceded to Japan. The people of Taiwan launched a struggle against the header. Jian Dashi repeatedly planned to go to Beijing to assassinate Li Hongzhang, but was dissuaded by his relatives and friends. In 1895, the Japanese invaders marched into Taiwan, burning, killing and plundering in Taiwan. He began to perform in the streets of Zhangzhou, Shima and Xiamen, and soon returned to Tanshui. In Tanshui, he has a high reputation for recruiting apprentices, teaching arts and making friends.

Resistance to Japanese invasion

Jian Dashi's Anti Japanese campaign received a warm response from the people of Taiwan. People call Jian Dashi and other rebel leaders Lin shaomao and Ke tie "Anti Japanese three heroes". Since then, Jian Dashi joined with other volunteers to fight against the Japanese army for many times, and repeatedly inflicted heavy losses on the Japanese army. Jian Dashi became a "serious trouble" for the Japanese army. at that time, a song in Minnan language spread all over Taipei, calling on everyone to join Jian Dashi in the fight against Japan. Unfortunately, Chien Dashi and others fell into the hands of the Qing soldiers and were tried in Xiamen hall. Jian Dashi was awe inspiring in front of the Qing army, and made an impassioned speech: "the Japanese abused their wives and sisters, and they were all dead. They were too hard to fight with them, so here they are. I am against Japan, not against the Qing Dynasty. Jian Dashi was escorted back to Taiwan. Facing the Japanese invaders, he was fearless and angry. On March 29, 1900, Jian Dashi was tortured and killed by the Japanese in Taipei prison.

Historical evaluation

After Jian Dashi was killed, the whole country was shocked and people were angry.
