The Japanese troops came to the mountain and retreated. Under extremely difficult conditions, the Anti Japanese volunteers persisted in armed struggle for three years. When the Japanese army went into the mountains to encircle and suppress, Jian Dashi was unable to gain a foothold in Taiwan and sneaked back to Zhangzhou. The Japanese aggressors learned that they coerced the Manchu Qing government to encircle and suppress. Jian Dashi was not captured by the Japanese army, but was captured by the Qing army. The corrupt and incompetent Manchu government extradited Jian Dashi to the Japanese. On March 22, 1900, Jian Dashi was tortured in Taiwan and killed by Japanese aggressors.
Life of the characters
Jian Dashi (1870-march 29, 1900), originally named Jian Zhonghao, was born in Tanshui County, Taiwan Province (now Tanshui District, Xinbei city). When he was young, he went back to Meilin township of Nanjing County with his relatives to offer sacrifices to his ancestors and relatives. When he was on duty, he taught Jian Derun to set up a martial arts hall in the ancestral hall and invited martial arts experts to teach his children how to practice martial arts. Jian Dashi was tall and strong. He was always interested in martial arts, so he stayed to practice martial arts. He has great strength. Most people can't move the two stone lions at the gate of the ancestral hall. He can lift them up and walk around the ancestral hall for a week. They said he was stronger than a lion, so he changed his name to "Jian Dashi". After graduation, Jian Dashi was proficient in all kinds of weapons and sticks. He began to perform in the streets of Zhangzhou, Shima and Xiamen, and soon returned to Tanshui. In Tanshui, he has a high reputation for recruiting apprentices, teaching arts and making friends.
Resistance to Japanese invasion
After the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, Taiwan and Penghu were forced to cede to Japan, and the Taiwan people rose up to resist. Filled with righteous indignation, Jian Dashi repeatedly planned to go to Beijing to assassinate Li Hongzhang, but was persuaded by his relatives and friends. In 1895, the Japanese invaders set foot in Taiwan, burning, killing and robbing prostitutes all the way. The Chien family suffered a lot: "my wife died, my sister died, my mother and sister-in-law died. A family of more than 10 people, only a few nephews, and was killed Jian Dashi vowed to fight against the Japanese invaders and fight to the end. According to the general annals of Taiwan Province, the Japanese occupied Taiwan in 1895 (Jian Dashi) he scattered his family wealth and raised more than a thousand righteous people to rise up In December of the same year, Jian Dashi turned into a seller, recruited more than 1000 Yimin and launched an uprising in Danshui. He led Yimin to attack Taipei city. He had a fierce exchange of fire with the Japanese army. In a bloody battle, he killed and wounded more than 300 enemy soldiers in Tianhou palace, and dealt a heavy blow to the Japanese aggressors. Jian Dashi's Anti Japanese campaign received a warm response from the people of Taiwan. People call Jian Dashi and other rebel leaders Lin shaomao and Ke tie "Anti Japanese three heroes". Since then, Jian Dashi joined with other volunteers to fight against the Japanese army for many times, and repeatedly inflicted heavy losses on the Japanese army. Jian Dashi became a "serious trouble" for the Japanese army. at that time, a song in Minnan language spread all over Taipei, calling on everyone to join Jian Dashi in the fight against Japan. The lyrics were like this: "come to Beishan to be brothers, eat wine and make friends. The big lion is in charge of the soldiers. He is really famous in Beishan. Japan's Qi Hao raids the lion, and the sky lights its troops to watch. The big lion's blunderbuss were carried up the mountain, with guns on both sides. Taiwan is not a bandit, and Japan has lost. In fact, it's not a slap in the face. Taiwan's return to China deserves credit. " Under extremely difficult conditions, Jian Dashi's Anti Japanese volunteers persisted in fighting the Japanese armed forces for three years. On December 17, 1898, Jian Dashi, Zhan fan, Chen Haoyuan and others split up and attacked the police station at night. After a stalemate for many days, the Japanese army was terrified, and the army, the Constitution and the police were organized into a mixed army, which was divided into 14 groups to invade. Jian Dashi and others had no food and weapons. In January 1899, Jian Dashi smuggled to Xiamen. A few days later, he sneaked back to Zhangzhou, disguised as Jian Qing, and lived in the Jian's overseas Chinese residence in Yanglao Lane (now 220 Xinhua West Road, Zhangzhou). He is going to return to his ancestral place to accumulate strength in order to make a comeback. " President Jian Fuyang sighed, "as soon as the lion came back, he was captured by the Qing government. The place where he suffered was in Zhangzhou." It turned out that although Jian Dashi was defeated, the Japanese army still had a lingering fear: if Jian Dashi was not removed for a day, they would be restless for a day. When he learned the whereabouts of Jian Dashi through reconnaissance, he forced Qing officials across the sea to arrest Jian Dashi in exchange for Liu depao, the general of the Qing Dynasty, and sent people to Xiamen and Zhangzhou to bribe and threaten Yang Qizhen, Daotai Rongkun, and so on. As a result, Rongkun of Daotai, Zhangzhou Prefecture, surrounded the Chien's overseas Chinese residence with more than 100 soldiers. Unfortunately, Chien Dashi and others fell into the hands of the Qing soldiers and were tried in Xiamen hall. Jian Dashi was awe inspiring in front of the Qing army, and made an impassioned speech: "the Japanese abused their wives and sisters, and they were all dead. They were too hard to fight with them, so here they are. I am against Japan, not against the Qing Dynasty. I don't hate being killed by the dog officials of the Qing Dynasty, but if I give it to the Japanese, I will die with my eyes closed "I'd rather die in my own country than be pardoned in other countries," Chien pleaded tearfully However, the corrupt and traitorous Qing government still extradited Jian Dashi to the Japanese invaders. Jian Dashi was escorted back to Taiwan. Facing the Japanese invaders, he was fearless and angry. On March 29, 1900, Jian Dashi was tortured and killed by the Japanese in Taipei prison.
Historical evaluation
After Jian Dashi was killed, the whole country was shocked and people were angry. In the late Qing Dynasty, Qian Zhenfei, a scholar of Wu Jin, wrote a poem with grief and indignation: "when the hero's blood is drained, the sea tide and mountain cry for the dragon; in other years, the history of the country spreads loyalty, and don't forget Jian Dashi of Taiwan. "Shanghai Shenbao comments:
"Taiwan Yimin Jian Dashi is the most ambitious person in China, striving for China and the whole Taiwan. "
Posterity praise
Original works
Jian Dashi
When the hero shed tears, the tide and the mountain burst into tears.
Don't forget Taiwan Chien Tai Shih!
Explanation of the problem
The poem originally said: "in the end of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, I ceded Taiwan to Japan, and the people of Taiwan, Chien Dashi, fought with Japan for more than a year, and went to Xiamen for the gain. Jian Dashi confessed: "the Japanese abused their wives and sisters. They were all dead. They were defeated in the battle. So far...". The party tied up a lion and offered it to the Japanese. It can be seen from the poem that the author is deeply grieved and indignant that the hero of the Anti Japanese war was sent to death by the shameless Qing government.

translation
The hero threw his head and shed his blood. It's so sad! The sea was rough, and even the Dragon cried bitterly. When he was young, he wrote the history of the country, preached loyalty, and praised the deeds of the martyrs. Don't forget the heroic martyrdom of Jian Dashi, a Taiwanese!
