Dong Da
(formerly known as Dong Tinglan) (ca. 695-765): a famous zither player in Kaiyuan and Tianbao periods of the Tang Dynasty, he was born in Longxi. He was a famous musician in Tianbao period of Kaiyuan. When he was young, he didn't want to read. He wandered around and even begged.
It was only at the age of fifty that he returned to normal and studied hard. After a few years, it got noticed. He wrote more about the situation and scene on the frontier battlefield. In the scene of war, at the same time, taking into account the suffering of the conscription husband and the feelings of young women, it can also present the voice of sadness in the tall and strong style, which makes people feel long and meaningful.
Contribution Summary
In his early years, Dong Tinglan joined the army from Fengzhou (now in Shaanxi Province). Chen huaigu learned the popular "Shen Jiasheng and Zhu Jiasheng" at that time, and organized his "Hujia" into a musical score. Later, Dong Tinglan's reputation has surpassed that of Shen and Zhu families. A hundred years later, Yuan Zhen still praised in his poem: "Ai Jia man refers to Dong Jiaben." today's "big Hujia" and "little Hujia" are said to be him It is said that this song is a reflection of his Taoist life of living in seclusion in the mountains and living a life of "cultivating the heart with few desires and cultivating the truth with rest".
Historical evaluation
Dong Tinglan enjoyed a high reputation in the Tang Dynasty, such as Gao Shi's farewell to Dong Da, which wrote: "don't worry about the ignorance of the road ahead. No one in the world knows the king." At that time, many poets had contacts with him and described his piano skills in his poems. The most famous one is Li Qi's listening to Dong Da playing the sound of Hu Jia, which gives a detailed and vivid description of his excellent piano skills. The genealogy compiled by Dong Tinglan was prefaced by Li Ao, a good praise doctor at that time.
Dong Tinglan was poor all his life. Gao Shi once said in his poem, "my husband is poor and humble, but I have no money to drink when I meet him today." Xue Yijian also said: "Tinglan is not a prince, but a person who has distributed forest and gully for 60 years." before he was 60 years old, he spent almost all his time in his hometown Longxi mountain village. At the end of Tianbao's reign, he was once a Qing Dynasty guest at the request of prime minister Fang Guan, and was criticized by the world.
Among Dong Tinglan's students, Zheng you has a keen sense of hearing and is good at tuning "Zhiqi", especially Shen Sheng and Zhu Sheng. Another disciple, Du Shanren, was also known by Rong Yu as "the Shen family wishes that all the families will collapse."
