Huo Yingdong
Huo Yingdong was born in May 1923, formerly known as Guantai. His ancestral home is Panyu, Guangdong Province. He was born in Hong Kong. He lost his father at the age of 7. At the age of 12, he entered Hong Kong Huangren English Academy and dropped out of school because of the outbreak of the anti Japanese war. He is an outstanding social activist, a famous patriot, a well-known industrialist in Hong Kong, a close friend of the Communist Party of China, the vice chairman of the eighth, ninth and Tenth National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, and the forever honorary president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
From November 1992 to November 1996, he was the president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. In 1985, he was a member of the Drafting Committee of the basic law of the Hong Kong SAR. He was elected vice chairman of the eighth CPPCC National Committee in March 1993. He was elected vice chairman of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee in March 1998. In March 2003, he was elected vice chairman of the 10th CPPCC National Committee at the first session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee.
On October 28, 2006, he died of illness in Beijing at the age of 84.
On December 18, 2018, the Party Central Committee and the State Council awarded Mr. Huo Yingdong the title of reform pioneer and the reform pioneer medal.

From 1965 to 1984, he was the president of Hong Kong Real Estate Construction Association. since 1981, he has successively served as executive member of the International Football Federation, honorary president of the World Badminton Federation, President of the World Chess Federation, vice president of the Asian Football Federation, President of the Hong Kong Football Association and forever honorary president. from 1984 to 1988 and 1990 to 1994, he served as the president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, and later as the honorary president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong. He received an honorary doctorate from Sun Yat sen University in 1986. He received an honorary doctorate in humanities from Springfield University in 1994. In 1995, he received an honorary doctorate in social sciences from the University of Hong Kong and an Olympic silver medal from the International Olympic Committee. He was awarded the great Bauhinia medal by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in July 1997. Mr. Huo Yingdong has successively served as standing member of the fifth and sixth national committees of the CPPCC, deputy to the Seventh National People's Congress, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and vice chairman of the eighth, ninth and tenth national committees of the CPPCC. In the course of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, he has successively served as a member of the Drafting Committee of the basic law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, an adviser on Hong Kong affairs, a vice chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, a vice chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and a member of the selection committee of the first government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
