Character evaluation
Most of the films directed by Huang zuolin are adapted from literary works. In the creation of film adaptation, with his unique way of "localization" and "visualization", he has brought excellent literature at home and abroad to the Chinese screen. His critical realism creation idea and adaptation way inherited his mentor and realistic dramatist Bernard Shaw's creation idea, opposed Wilde's "art for art", emphasized writing "social problems", and restored the life scene. In the film "Biao", Huang zuolin not only integrates the creation concept of critical realism, which is inherited from Europe, but also caters to the ideology of social transformation at the beginning of the founding of new China. However, Huang zuolin does not express his ideas in an aerial and conceptual way, but goes deep into the reality of China, draws materials from life and trusts the audience. He reconstructed and recreated the "localization" image with vivid characters, reasonable and ingenious plot setting, and authentic means of image expression (review of contemporary film).
