Luo Dian
Luodian (1718-1808), a native of Xiangtan, was named shenzhai with the word Hui 5. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Ding Mao (1747) ranked the first in the local examination, and Xin Wei (1751) was a Jinshi. He was granted the title of editor and promoted to the rank of censor, and was the official of Shaoqing in Honglu temple. He returned to the Yuelu Academy for 27 years and died in the Xiangxian temple. He is the author of Ning Yuan Wu Jing Shuo and poetry collection.
Life of the characters
In 1718, Luo Dian was born in Xiangtan, Hunan Province. In 1747, he won the first place in the local examination. In 1751, Luo Dian became a Jinshi in the examination of the imperial examinations, selected a good scholar, appointed a editor, and transferred to the post of imperial censor. The Ministry of officials and the Ministry of work studied politics for Shizhong and Sichuan, and later promoted to the rank of Shaoqing in Honglu temple. He once served as the examiners of the joint examination and presided over the Henan provincial examination twice. Later, because of his mother's old age, he resigned and returned to his hometown. In 1782, Luo Dian served as the head of Yuelu Academy and was re elected five times. He presided over Yuelu Academy for 27 years. Under his leadership, Yuelu Academy reached its peak. In 1808, Luo Dian died of illness in Yuelu Academy at the age of 91.

He has written 50 volumes of Ning yuan Du Yi Guan Jian, Ning yuan Du Shi Guan Jian, Ning yuan Du Chun Qiu Guan Jian, Luo Honglu Ji, Jiu Jiang Kao and Guang Sheng Sheng Shuo.
Academic thought
Luo Dian was well versed in Sinology and adopted the method of exegetical interpretation of "Zi PI but Ju Shu" by Confucian classics scholars of the Han Dynasty. He is good at making arts, mastering Confucian classics and composing poems. Luo Dian took cultivating talents as his duty all his life. He once proposed that "education should be the foundation of education rather than the evaluation of literature". As the head of Yuelu Academy, he put forward the educational thought of "firm moral character, clear learning current affairs". At that time, the Qing government stipulated that the number of students in each term (three years) of Yuelu Academy was 60. During the 27 years of Luo's teaching, the number of students studying was three times the number prescribed by the imperial court. Among them, Tao Shu and Ouyang Hou are particularly outstanding. Luo Dian attached great importance to aesthetic education and environmental beautification of Yuelu Academy. He built gardens and planted flowers behind the Academy, dug ponds, raised fish and built eight scenes of Yuelu Academy.

Character evaluation
Luo Dian is the most famous mountain leader of Yuelu Academy in modern times. He is knowledgeable, talented and upright, rigorous in scholarship, well-educated, excellent in character, and well-known in the history of Yuelu Academy. Yan Rufu commented on Luo Dian and said: "although Mr. Wang has been a craftsman all his life, his spiritual focus is on classics. The ancient simple characters are also used in the treatment of the classics, which means that the classics are interpreted, the words are approved and the sentences are combed. They all have exact footnotes, and then they can pass through one chapter and the whole chapter. If the whole Scripture is stifled, then sleep and food will be abandoned.
