Zheng Hailin
Zheng Hailin (1957 -), a native of Meixian County, Guangdong Province. In 1982, he received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Sun Yat sen University and a doctor's degree in history from Jinan University in 1987.
Life of the characters
Zheng Hailin was born in 1957 in an intellectual family in the western suburb of Meicheng, Meizhou, Guangdong Province. People born in that era were destined to experience many hardships in life. He was born in the face of a "three-year difficult period". If this can not leave a deep memory for him as a child, then his father was wrongly classified as a rightist, which will cause heavy psychological pressure and life impact on him.
Ten years of turbulence in the Cultural Revolution broke Zheng Hailin's dream of studying normally. After graduating from junior high school, he had to drop out of school. During the day, he went to the construction site to do odd jobs, earned some oil and salt money for the poor families, accompanied by a kerosene lamp at night, and began his self-study career.
The college entrance examination was resumed in 1977, and Zheng Hailin was admitted to the Department of philosophy of Sun Yat sen University the following year. He was fortunate enough to join Huang Haizhang, a famous professor from Meizhou, in kanglaiyuan. Mr. Huang Haizhang is Huang Zunxian's nephew. He inherits the scholarly style of the Huang family in panguifang, and is well educated. Under the guidance of Huang Haizhang, Zheng Hailin began to study Huang Zunxian. In the past, most scholars only paid attention to Huang Zunxian's status as a poet and literary contribution, while Zheng Hailin studied Huang Zunxian's important role in the reform and reform of the late Qing Dynasty from the perspective of Huang's Japanese annals.
In 1984, Zheng Hailin was admitted as a doctoral candidate in the History Department of Jinan University. Under the guidance of Zhu jieqin, an expert in the history of Sino Japanese relations, he specialized in the history of Sino Japanese relations, read a lot of books, studied and sorted out the literature, and wrote his doctoral thesis Research on Huang Zunxian, which was processed and enriched into a Book Huang Zunxian and modern China, published by Beijing Sanlian bookstore. This book makes a systematic and in-depth study of Huang Zunxian, and puts forward some viewpoints that have not been published before, which has aroused the attention of academic circles at home and abroad. Beijing's "Dushu" and Japan's "Dongfang" have published book reviews and highly commented on them. Therefore, Zheng Hailin became a famous expert in the study of Huang Zunxian, and his exploration in the field of Huang's studies continued to deepen.
Bu Huang Zunxian's hard study tour
After receiving his doctorate in 1987, Zheng Hailin taught in Shenzhen University for a short period of time. He began his study tour in Japan in 1990. He went to Tokyo University, Kyoto University and Toyo Library in Japan to study and collect historical documents about Huang Zunxian and the history of Sino Japanese relations.
The reporter asked Mr. Zheng why he chose this kind of wandering academic path? He explained that he mainly wanted to follow Huang Zunxian's footsteps as a diplomat and collect all the documents and files about Mr. Gongdu. He quoted scholars in the Qing Dynasty as saying that if he learned nothing, he would not go far; if he didn't learn for the sake of writing, he would be empty handed. In order to study Huang Zunxian, he read all the works of Huang Zunxian, all the literature books he read, and a large number of works of his contemporaries. For this reason, he often came out early and came back late, drilled into the Oriental library, got disheartened in the dusty pile of old papers, and searched for precious historical information. The biography of Huang Zunxian, the study of Huang zunkai and other related achievements were published one after another. Later, he donated these precious books and documents collected in Japan to the Research Institute of "Huang Zunxian and Hakka writers" of Jiaying University. Many of them were written records left by he Ruzhang and Huang Zunxian from all over Japan, which became valuable historical materials to further expand the research of Huang Zunxian and the history of Hakka immigrants to Taiwan.
Following Chen Yinke's method of stressing textual research and reasoning, Zheng Hailin combined philosophical logic, historical textual research and legal deduction, and further applied them to the study of the history of Sino Japanese relations. He successively wrote "a study of the history and legal principles of Diaoyutai islands" and "a study of the sovereignty of Diaoyutai from the perspective of history and international law", based on the historical documents of China, Japan and even the world, combined with geographical information It is irrefutable to prove that the Diaoyu Islands are China's inherent territory and defend China's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands by learning. Zheng Hailin's academic achievements are related to his rich experience of studying in Japan, Sydney University in Australia and British Columbia University in Canada, which reflects his tireless "Walker style" on the academic road like Tang Xuanzang.
Since 2005, Zheng Hailin has been invited to work as a professor at the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. As for why he chose to return to China, he answered the reporters in this way: first, the focus of his own academic research has shifted, mainly engaged in the study of Asian issues, including the study of cross strait relations and the South China Sea issue. He chose Hong Kong, which is convenient for investigation, research and data collection in the three places on both sides of the Taiwan Strait; second, Hong Kong as a rich repository of Chinese literature, as well as the freedom and sufficiency of information, It's extremely convenient.
In recent years, Zheng Hailin has successively written such monographs as "a deep perspective of cross strait relations", "the Taiwan issue tests the wisdom of the Chinese people", "the thinking and mode of cross strait peaceful reunification", which are considered by experts as a masterpiece to explore China's peaceful reunification from the Perspective of history, international law and politics. He is known as a scholar who studies cross strait relations from the perspective of jurisprudence.
Looking forward to more humanities students in my hometown
During the interview, the reporter casually mentioned the manuscript of Chen pan, a famous historian from Meizhou, which he had collected before, and immediately opened the conversation of Mr. Zheng Hailin, because he had also paid special attention to Chen Pan's academic achievements. Moreover, Mr. Huang Haizhang, Mr. Zheng's mentor, had a friendship with Chen pan. He had seen Mr. Hai Zhang write poems in his later years to Miss Chen pan from all over the world.
From talking about Chen Pan's academic achievements, Zheng Hailin said that in Meizhou, talents in the field of humanities were at their peak from the 1930s to the 1940s until the 1960s. There were such famous masters as Chen pan, Luo Xianglin, Gu Zhi, Huang Yaomian, Wu Kang and other famous professors. Today, the talents in the field of Humanities in Meizhou are far inferior to those in those years. They are quite mature and withered. On the contrary, in Chaoshan area, where students went north to Meizhou to study, a group of influential scholars such as Chen Pingyuan, Chen Chunsheng, Zhang Wenqin, Cai Hongsheng and Huang Tianji emerged after the 1980s, forming an important academic team under the banner of Mr. Rao Zongyi.
In this regard, Zheng Hailin believes that it may be related to the utilitarianism of education and study. Some students and scholars are too concerned about material matters, unable to calm down, and not enough to bear hardships, which is a bit in line with Huang Haizhang's worry at that time: "maybe they are afraid of poverty.".
Zheng Hailin said that Meizhou still has a deep cultural heritage. He hoped that young people with academic aspirations should read more books calmly, especially the works of famous scholars, and broaden their horizons. They should go beyond the shallow vision of utilitarianism, avoid fame and walk out of a hard and successful academic road. In order to save their works and publish them, we should make great efforts to publish them.
Mr. Zheng Hailin opened the door of academic research from studying Huang Zunxian, a famous historical and cultural celebrity in his hometown, and also ascended the academic palace because of his achievements in studying Huang Zunxian. The eagerness of sending words is not only his own experience, but also his feeling for his hometown.
